Domaine Bressy-Masson
Côtes du Rhône Villages Rasteau

“One of the up-and-coming stars of the southern Rhone” – Robert Parker

Nestled along the hillsides of Rasteau in the southern Rhone, Domaine Bressy-Masson has been highly regarded for its exceptionally rich, concentrated and flavorful wines and has been described as “one of the up-and-coming stars of the southern Rhone” by Robert Parker (February 2009).

The Domaine currently consists of 30 hectares of superb vineyards which feature extremely old vines and encompass a broad range of soils and terrain.  The Domaine’s red wines which we are offering here are all made primarily from old-vine Grenache, with smaller amounts of Syrah and Mourvedre added to balance out the flavors.

The 2007 Souco D’or, made from 40-45 year old vines, displays an explosive nose of plum, black currant and blackberry and is extremely dense and chewy.  With “loads of body and richness, and a beautifully textured finish,” this wine is accessible now but can also be held for several years to show its true colors.  Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, October 2009

The 2007 Cuvée Paul Emile is made from old vines situated on the higher slopes of the Domaine’s vineyards, including 80+ year old Grenache vines.  The Cuvée Paul Emile contains an explosive nose of black plum and cassis, and is followed by an amazingly lush and mouth-coating finish.  This is a “full-bodied, powerful, rich” wine from an exceptional vintage that “will evolve nicely for 8-10 years.”  Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, October 2009

2007 Domaine Bressy-Masson À La Gloire de Mon Père2007 Domaine Bressy-Masson À La Gloire de Mon Père
91, Robert Parker

The 2007 À La Gloire de Mon Père is produced using grapes picked from the estate’s oldest vines surrounding the main house (90 year old Grenache, 50 year old Syrah and 40 year old Mourvedre).  The terroir and the aging of the Syrah in new French oak have created a wine with “terrific purity, full-bodied texture, and a long finish” that is bursting with “plenty of explosive red and black fruits intermixed with licorice, incense, lavender, and some chocolate and pepper.”   Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, October 2009.

Both the Cuvée Paul Emile and the À La Gloire de Mon Père are considered high-end cuvées by the Domaine and are only produced in exceptional vintages.  These wines from the exciting 2007 vintage should not be missed!
