Domaine des Malandes
Chablis
Pre-Arrival (arriving October 2010)
Domaine des Malandes, composed of 25 hectares in Chablis, was founded in
1986 and is directed by Lyne Marchive. Two years ago, winemaker
Guénolé Breteaudeau joined the Domaine to help vinify the 2006 vintage.
In describing their 2008 vintage, Breteaideau commented that it "was a
challenging vintage but one that in the end gave us clean fruit, good
sugars, excellent acids and concentrated musts … There is plenty of
classic Chablis character for the purists to enjoy and because of the
mid-palate fat, people who just want a fine white burgundy will also
find much to admire." Burghound, October 2009
2008 Domaine des Malandes, Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume Vieilles Vignes
89-92, Burghound
“A ripe, pure and layered green fruit and acacia blossom nose is trimmed
in notes of pain grillé and iodine that continue onto the lemony middle
weight flavors that possess fine mid-palate fat that buffers the
moderately firm acid spine on the racy, precise and lingering finish.
Very solid quality here.” Burghound, October 2009
2008 Domaine des Malandes, Chablis 1er Cru Montmains Vieilles Vignes
90-92, Burghound
“This is easily the most elegant and refined wine to this point with
ultra pure floral and white pear aromas preceding stony and chalky
medium-bodied flavors that offer up notes of oyster shell on the
attractively sappy and persistent finish. This is really quite pretty.”

2008 Domaine des Malandes, Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir
91-93, Burghound
“Here the wood is more evident though not actually intrusive with
lightly spiced white flower, peach and pear aromas that are in keeping
with the rich, minerally and relatively powerful yet precise flavors
that deliver excellent finishing length. Despite the muscled mid-palate,
the finish is more on the side of finesse than volume.” Burghound,

2008 Domaine des Malandes, Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos
91-93, Burghound
“Very generous wood where vanilla and oak spice notes presently dominate
the otherwise fresh white flower nose that is followed by rich and
notably powerful big-bodied flavors that ooze a fine minerality onto the
palate along with plenty of dry extract, all wrapped in a superbly
complex and lingering finish . . .” Burghound, October 2009
